ACRO-TUMBLING

An “Acro-Tumbling” class is a training style that combines elements of dance technique with acrobatic skills and gymnastics (floor work), to focus on flexibility, strength and coordination that can be incorporated into a dance routine.

Key points about acro tumbling:
  • Blends dance and acrobatics:
Unlike pure gymnastics tumbling, Acro-Tumbling aims to integrate acrobatic skills into a dance context, making the movements look graceful and artistic.
  • Skill progression:
Classes typically progress from basic skills like forward rolls, cartwheels, walkovers, handstands to more advanced maneuvers like tucks, front and back handsprings, side and front aerials and other advanced tricks.
  • Focus on flexibility and strength:
Acro-Tumbling heavily emphasizes developing flexibility and core strength to execute acrobatic moves safely and effectively.
  • Potential for competition:
Acro-Tumbling can be a competitive dance style where dancers perform routines incorporating various acrobatic elements.
